Tropical Weather in England
This is the first summer I can remember having months upon months of sunshine in the UK. A shock to the system for some of us Brits, who are more acclimatised to the pouring rain. And here we are bare legged and frantically running to the beach as often as we can. It’s nice not to have to jump on a plane to enjoy soaking up the Vitamin D and two-digit temperatures.
My Summer Make Up
I tend to keep my make up a little bit simpler for summer with the same bronzed, glowy look for the entire season. I am forever changing my skincare routine as my skin is a combination of oily and acne prone and a bit of a state at the moment. So a sweat-proof, high coverage, oil absorbing foundation is a must; not asking for much am I?! I even tried out semi-permanent eyelashes and had my eyebrows microbladed on last week, the ultimate laziness I know!
Mac Prep + Prime Skin Base Primer
This Primer is a necessity for combating oily skin. It applies like a dream and drink up any excess moisture on my skin through the day making sure my make up doesn’t budge.
Estee Lauder Double Wear in 1W2//Sand
If you haven’t heard of this foundation I will be very shocked! Mixed with the Mac Primer this foundation doesn’t budge all day and works well with SPF. As much as I try and replace it nothing beats it. It is quite a heavy foundation, so I would suggest trying the Double Wear Light for those of you who prefer less coverage in the summer but with the same staying power.
Benefit Boi-ing Waterproof Airbrush Concealer in No.1
I have purchased my fair share of Benefit products and never been impressed with any of there base products, until this concealer. This product is practically bulletproof as far as I’m concerned, moisturising and waterproof – magic stuff!
Barry M Liquid Chrome Highlighter in Beam Me Up
This delightfully affordable product gives the most momentous glow. It’s not a highlighter for the faint hearted and I probably apply it too liberally to my cheekbones, cupids bow and collar bones. I either mix it in with my foundation if I’m having a slap-dash make up day or use the warmth of my hands to blend it into my skin over make up.
Mac Mineralise Tinted Lip Balm in Pure + Tender
My lips get insanely dry in the hot weather. Perhaps I spend a little too much time in the sunshine but this rich, thick and long lasting balm does wonders. A little goes a long way and I’m constantly digging around in the bottom of my Mary Poppins sized bag for it all summer long!
Tom Ford Cream Cheek Colour in 01 Pink Sands
I am a huge Tom Ford make up fan but surprisingly, this was a gift from my other half – he did good! It’s a lightweight formula that dissolves into any base and creates a subtle swipe of colour and shimmer. And if your feeling particularly lazy, double it up as a lip colour too – can’t wait to try this in other shades!
Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof Mascara
For me, a good mascara is more about the wand than the formula, but this one had the best of both world. It glides on very easily for a waterproof mascara without too many weird faces or wand wiggling. The wand curves against you eyelashes and isn’t too long for those of you who are like me, who prod themselves in the eye if the wand is too long for my beady little brown eyes.
NYX Eyebrow Gel in Brunette
This has been my favourite brow gel for years now. Its a pain to get off at the end of the day as its sets onto your face after a few minutes. But it has survived swimming in the sea and water slides on many a holiday. I also double up this product as a waterproof eyeliner too purly because of the staying power – once its on, its on!
Stila Shimmer + Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Twig
These liquid eyeshadows where on a huge cult product hype about six months ago and I can see why. So I’m a little late to the bandwagon… this shade ‘Twig’ is a true deep bronze shade with champagne reflects. I recommend to blend it out with a brush quite quickly before it sets. It comes with an applicator so it is very easy to apply on the way to the beach.
